About Us

"Education is the passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today." Malcom X

The GENANAW FOUNDATION is a nonprofit charitable organization dedicated to advancing education by
supporting school construction in the village of Gulo in Shoa, Ethiopia. In addition to our infrastructure
projects, we empower students by providing essential school supplies. The GENANAW FOUNDATION is
registered as a non-political charity NGO in Ethiopia and a 501©3 Nonprofit in the United States. Please click the link below to learn more about us.

Since its establishment in 2019, the foundation has collaborated with the community to complete
several projects. We extended the Genet Mariam Primary School to Grade 6, with Grades 1 to 3 funded by World Vision International. We are helping the community expand Genet Mariam Primary School to Grade 8. This extension encompasses a new headmaster’s office, staff room, storage/archives facility, and modern restrooms for both staff and students. Additionally, the foundation has procured a power distribution transformer, ensuring electricity access for the school and the community. The foundation has consistently supported education by providing essential school supplies such as pens, pencils, notebooks, uniforms, and teaching tools to Genet Mariam School. In a significant initiative for the 2023-2024 school year, we helped create a woman-led initiative to support girls aged ten and above at the school by supplying eco-friendly reusable kits. Our next project is to ensure children have enough to eat by providing easy-to-store healthy lunch supplies. Click the link below to learn more about these and other recurring projects.
